Job Summary

Mary's Place Seattle is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Support Staff to join our team. As a key member of our youth services leadership, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality experience for children aged 0-5 in our shelter environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation: Assist in planning, developing, and implementing programs and activities that promote positive youth development, social-emotional regulation, and academic success.
  • Child Safety and Well-being: Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children, including maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Engage with families, staff, and external agencies to provide excellent customer service and support.
  • Data Collection and Tracking: Collect and track attendance and behavior data for Tots Club members.
  • Confidentiality and Boundaries: Maintain confidentiality of membership data, school data, and other member information, while setting clear and healthy boundaries with guests, families, and staff.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or two years of relevant work experience, with some experience in social or homeless services preferred.
  • Language Skills: Multilingual applicants, particularly those fluent in Spanish or Portuguese, are highly preferred.
  • Facilitation and Leadership: Experience facilitating activities for children aged 0-5 and understanding of youth development principles.
  • Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict mediation, and crisis management skills.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong, age-appropriate communication skills, with the ability to model and guide youth in strengths-based problem-solving, goal-setting, and study skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to converse with and listen to people in many different settings.
  • Computer and Office Equipment: Ability to use a computer and telephone, as well as other standard office equipment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis, with occasional lifting and carrying of supplies up to 25 pounds.
