Position Title: Clinical Trials Nursing Specialist

Grade: N03 Union Rates based on experience

The Clinical Trials Nursing Specialist at Temple University Hospital - Episcopal Campus will oversee the daily operations associated with clinical research initiatives, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations.

The Temple Lung Center is renowned for its extensive and diverse pulmonary research endeavors globally.

Key areas of investigation encompass COPD, emphysema, respiratory failure, lung transplantation, pulmonary arterial hypertension, alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, asthma, lung cancer, sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and sleep apnea.

Our program is committed to a robust clinical research framework, conducting studies and clinical trials aimed at evaluating new medications, devices, or procedures to discover more effective treatment options.

At any given time, the Temple Lung Center typically manages numerous active clinical trials and consistently ranks among the leading sites for pulmonary clinical trial enrollment nationwide.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conducting nursing assessments and procedures.
  • Participating in the review and preparation of clinical trial protocols.
  • Ensuring compliance with clinical trial protocols by research staff.
  • Monitoring patient care and evaluating patient status and treatment side effects.
  • Maintaining regulatory documentation and managing IRB submissions and follow-ups.
  • Overseeing data collection and management in accordance with trial protocols.

Travel to multiple clinical sites is required.

Applicants must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of PA, along with prior experience in a research or clinical trials environment.

Demonstrated ability to apply scientific principles to problem-solving, planning, and the provision and evaluation of nursing care is essential.

  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel to off-site clinical locations.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends, or early mornings as necessary.

Experience in a critical care environment is preferred.
This position is funded through grants.
