Position Overview:
Kaiser Permanente is looking for a Sterile Processing Technician Level II to join our dedicated team.

Job Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of supervisory staff, the technician will adhere to established infection control protocols, quality assurance measures, and departmental guidelines.

The role involves:

  • Collecting, cleaning, decontaminating, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments, trays, packs, and reusable medical devices.
  • Managing inventory, restocking, and distributing medical supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Spending the majority of time in the Sterile Processing Department, preparing and sterilizing instruments and trays for various medical departments.
  • Processing instruments used in inpatient surgical procedures.
  • Participating in departmental training and in-service programs.

Essential Duties:
  • Infection Control: Follow hand hygiene protocols, maintain sterility assurance, and adhere to biological monitoring standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with sterilization and disinfection protocols, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Policies and Procedures: Comply with all organizational and departmental guidelines.
  • Staff Development: Engage in employee orientation and competency programs, maintaining current certification.
  • Decontamination Skills: Utilize personal protective equipment and specialized cleaning equipment to process reusable instruments.
  • Instrumentation Assembly: Identify and assemble various surgical instruments according to specifications.
  • Preparation and Packaging: Select appropriate packaging materials for sterilization processes.
  • Equipment Management: Collect, clean, and track patient care equipment, ensuring proper inventory management.
  • Workplace Safety: Adhere to safety policies and report hazards promptly.
  • Professionalism: Exhibit strong communication skills and contribute to a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum one year in instrument processing with knowledge of medical terminology and sterilization protocols.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification: Current certification from recognized bodies in sterile processing.
