Position Summary:

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in the New York area. In this role, you will be responsible for executing Audio, Video, and Control engineering tasks necessary to support the sales, design, installation, and programming of customized audio-visual systems. You will collaborate closely with the Project Manager to ensure that the agreed-upon scope of work is completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards while maintaining effective communication both internally and with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commission systems on-site to ensure they operate according to specifications and are reliable.
  • Travel as needed for site assessments, commissioning, programming, documentation, and training related to system installations.
  • Conduct tests on systems during fabrication and field installations to confirm proper wiring, equipment functionality, and system design.
  • Collaborate with remote programmers to finalize the commissioning of control systems such as AMX, Crestron, Alcorn McBride, or Medialon.
  • Assume full responsibility for the on-site commissioning of systems.
  • Address client requests for system modifications and work with the Project Manager to ensure changes are documented and processed appropriately.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Electrosonic Site Supervisor regarding project progress and any issues or delays.
  • Partner with sales consultants in the design and estimation of custom audio-visual systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to review drawings and specifications for fabrication.
  • Ensure systems are constructed to specifications in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide training for clients' maintenance and operations staff.
  • Create drawings, manuals, and specifications for training and client delivery, including as-built updates.
  • Keep a detailed work log and timesheets to document activities performed.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.


Qualifications and Skills Required:

Essential Skills:

  • Proven ability to commission all aspects of an audio-visual installation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • AVIXA CTS-D certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days.
  • Proficiency in setting up and aligning edge-blended projection systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to provide design and troubleshooting consultations on project work.
  • General understanding of programming audio-visual equipment (e.g., AMX, Crestron, Alcorn, Medialon, QSC Q-Sys, 7th Sense, WATCHOUT, and Alcorn McBride).
  • 2-3 years of experience in commissioning corporate, theme park, museum, or entertainment AV systems.
  • Proficient with computers and standard office software, along with knowledge of audio-visual software.


Preferred Skills:

  • Intermediate knowledge of programming audio-visual equipment.
  • Familiarity with AV systems programming languages.
  • Experience with SMAART.
  • Understanding of IoT, networking, and switch configurations.
  • 4-5 years of experience in commissioning corporate, theme park, museum, or entertainment AV systems.

Required Qualifications:

  1. A technical degree (or equivalent) in a related field or relevant field experience.
  2. A minimum of ten years of professional experience in the audio-visual industry.
  3. 3-5 years of hands-on installation and commissioning experience, with knowledge of current products and trends in the audio-visual sector.
  4. AVIXA CTS-D certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. CCNA Certification.
  2. Q-SYS Certification - Level II.
  3. Biamp Forte Certification.
  4. SMAART Operator Certification - Level I.

*Salary is based on experience, ranging from $70,000 to $90,000. Remote work may be considered based on the applicant's profile. Travel is required.
