Lead Audio Visual Engineer

New York, New York, United States Averity Full time
Position Overview

We are a century-old, distinguished international law firm recognized for our leading practices, global outlook, advanced technology, and exceptional management.

The Information Services Department is in search of a Senior Audio Visual Engineer to enhance our technology team, focusing on the development and maintenance of enterprise collaboration and conferencing technologies across all global office locations. This role reports to the Technology Support Manager and collaborates closely with the firm's Conference Services, Technology Operations, and global IS support teams. This hybrid role requires a minimum of four days per week on-site.

This position transcends typical AV tech support; we seek a true engineer who can identify issues proactively, develop scripts for platforms like Zoom or MS Teams to provide permanent solutions, rather than temporary fixes. We are looking for a genuine AV expert for this role.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior AV Engineer include:

  • Complete ownership of the design, implementation, and support of AV/VC systems in all meeting rooms and conference spaces.
  • Proactively deliver 2nd and 3rd-level technical support for all AV/VC services throughout the organization, including local, virtual/cloud, and large conferencing events.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to assess existing and new initiatives, architecting, designing, planning, installing, upgrading, and decommissioning conference rooms to align with business needs and functions.
  • Oversee and support site installations, upgrades, and normalization of all AV and VC equipment, coordinating physical access, network connectivity, power, and other dependencies as necessary.
  • Engage with AV vendors to ensure proper installation, configuration, and testing of all devices.
  • Create formal standardization documents for all room types, including approved room designs, equipment lists, and connectivity specifications.
  • Maintain an inventory of all conference room data, hardware, and license management.
  • Ensure monitoring of all applicable devices and services, addressing alerts within established SLAs.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance visits to evaluate existing hardware-software solutions, ensuring all rooms are updated, serviced, and consumables replaced as needed.
  • Regularly review all AV/VC hardware and service contracts globally to ensure adequate support coverage across all locations.
  • Adhere to all team, departmental, and firm policies and procedures, including technical change management and service continuity.
  • Work collaboratively with conference services, technology operations, and global support teams to enhance processes, improve efficiencies, and elevate the overall user experience.

Qualifications for the Senior AV Engineer include:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in supporting large corporate AV/VC environments (experience in a law firm is a significant advantage).
  • Comprehensive understanding of conference room technology and standard use cases, including Crestron, Biamp, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with the operation, design, and installation principles of commercial audio-visual and video conferencing systems, including control processors, room schedulers, microphones, matrix switchers, VC cameras & codecs, audio DSPs, and digital signage.
  • Experience in architecting solutions to meet global business requirements in collaboration and communications.
  • Extensive experience in conference room upgrades and new installations.
  • Proficiency in system schematics, cable pull schedules, and high-level/low-level architectural drawings.
  • Experience in configuring and supporting large audio and video town halls and webinars.
  • Expertise in remote monitoring, alerting, and automation technologies and workflows.

What we offer for the right Senior AV Engineer:

  • Competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $160,000
  • Bonus eligibility
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Significant growth opportunities as the first dedicated AV Engineer, with more to follow
  • Supportive management committed to staff development and success
  • Excellent work-life balance
