Legal Support Coordinator

OVERVIEW

The Legal Support Coordinator will deliver essential navigation services to individuals seeking assistance. The Oklahoma County Diversion Hub Inc aims to foster significant, transformative changes in the lives of those affected by the criminal justice system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Legal Support Coordinator will concentrate on facilitating the implementation of the Diversion Hub's initiatives and objectives. The primary duties include:

  • Conducting initial assessments for all new clients requesting support.
  • Coordinating release from detention, aiding in discharge planning, and collaborating with partners to assist clients with probation, bond stipulations, and treatment court obligations.
  • Investigating current and historical legal involvement, documenting progress notes, liaising with case managers and partners regarding clients' legal matters, tracking upcoming court-mandated appearances, and maintaining thorough and accurate records to aid clients in complying with the judicial system.
  • Ensuring clients are informed of their court appearances and, in emergencies, providing necessary documentation to the court to excuse their presence while rescheduling court dates with legal representatives.
  • Supporting compliance with pre-trial and/or probation requirements.
  • Assessing client risk and determining the need for immediate intervention or referral to the case management team.
  • Acting as a continuous liaison with case managers, service navigators, judges, court clerks, attorneys, and all referral sources.
  • Timely submission of all required navigation reports detailing program activities, including client updates and compliance with reporting standards to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Assisting clients in achieving self-sufficiency and stability by addressing barriers and fulfilling their expressed needs.
  • Consistently adhering to the agency's ethical standards and maintaining strict confidentiality regarding client information.
  • Participating in all required staff development, training sessions, and meetings.
  • Performing any additional duties that align with the role's purpose and objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in social services, communication, criminal justice, political science, or a related field.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Possession of personal transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance in accordance with state regulations and agency policies.

  • Strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

Proficient in computer, mobile device, and internet usage, with familiarity in software applications including:

  • Windows and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Cloud-based file sharing platforms such as Google Drive and Dropbox
  • Adobe software
  • Client management databases
  • Salesforce

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee must be capable of sitting for extended periods, as well as talking, hearing, standing, walking, using hands to manipulate objects, reaching with arms, and performing physical tasks such as lifting or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written, is essential, along with the ability to operate a computer effectively and to clearly understand telephone communications.
