About the Role: The Risk Engineering Property North-West Team at Zurich is on the lookout for a dedicated Property Field Risk Engineering Consultant, particularly one with extensive experience in large property highly protected risk (HPR). This position is primarily remote, ideally suited for candidates located in the California Bay Area to Monterey regions, with an expected travel commitment of 25-30%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field risk engineering assessments to fulfill underwriting criteria.
  • Design and implement customer service strategies aimed at minimizing losses and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Support the underwriting team by participating in client and broker meetings.
  • Perform field engineering services as needed, especially for significant accounts and prospects within the designated area.
  • Deliver advanced consultative property services, including identifying high-risk exposures, investigating major loss causes and effects, and managing property programs.
  • Assist in promoting Zurich's risk transfer insurance products alongside underwriting professionals and agents across various business segments.

Position Levels: This role may be filled at either the Consultant or Senior Consultant level, with the hiring manager determining the appropriate level based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

Consultant:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in the same field, or
  • Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associate's degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

All candidates should demonstrate experience in team environments and possess relevant risk assessment skills aligned with Property-specific competency standards.

Senior Consultant:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 8 years of experience in the same field.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in collaborative team settings are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Fire Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with HPR properties.
  • Background in Property Loss Control/Risk Engineering within the insurance sector.
  • Certification as a Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).
  • Exceptional communication and consultative abilities.
  • Strong collaborative skills and a proven track record of teamwork.
  • High proficiency in PC and MS-Office software.

Compensation: Compensation for roles at Zurich varies based on multiple factors, including office location, role, skill set, and experience level. Zurich provides a reasonable compensation range for roles as required by local law. Additional rewards may include short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases.
