Zurich Insurance Company is seeking a dedicated Property Risk Engineering Consultant with a robust background in highly protected risk (HPR) properties. This role is designed for remote work, with a preference for candidates in the California Bay Area to Monterey regions. The position includes a company vehicle for travel, which is anticipated to be around 25-30% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering field risk engineering services to meet underwriting criteria.
- Crafting and executing customer service initiatives aimed at reducing losses and improving client operations.
- Providing engineering insights to the underwriting team by engaging in client and broker discussions.
- Performing field engineering assessments as necessary, particularly for larger accounts and prospects within the designated area.
- Offering advanced property consulting services, including identifying major loss risks, analyzing the causes of significant losses, and formulating property management strategies.
- Supporting the promotion of Zurich's risk transfer insurance offerings alongside underwriting professionals and agents across various business sectors.
Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check due to the provision of a company vehicle. This position may be filled at either the Consultant or Senior Consultant level, depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
Basic Qualifications:
For Consultant Level:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering OR
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering OR
- Completion of Zurich's Certified Apprentice program with an Associate's degree and 3 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering AND
- Demonstrated teamwork experience
- Relevant risk assessment experience aligned with Property competency standards
For Senior Consultant Level:
- A Bachelor’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in Property Risk Engineering OR
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent with 8 or more years of experience in Property Risk Engineering AND
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated teamwork experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Fire Science, or a related discipline
- Experience with HPR properties
- Background in Property Loss Control/Risk Engineering within the insurance sector
- Certification as a Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
- Strong communication and consultative skills
- Exceptional collaborative abilities
- Proven track record of effective teamwork
- Proficiency in PC and MS-Office Software
