Senior Risk Consultant for Property Safety

Join Zurich Insurance Company as a Property Risk Engineering Consultant, where you will leverage your extensive expertise in highly protected risk (HPR) properties. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, ideally suited for candidates located in the California Bay Area to Monterey regions. A company vehicle will be provided for travel, which is anticipated to be around 25-30% of your time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering field risk engineering services to meet underwriting criteria.
- Creating and executing customer service initiatives aimed at reducing losses and improving operational efficiency.
- Providing engineering insights to the underwriting team by engaging in client and broker discussions.
- Conducting field engineering assessments as necessary, particularly for larger accounts and prospects within the designated area.
- Offering advanced property consulting services, including identifying major loss risks, analyzing the causes of significant losses, and formulating property management strategies.
- Collaborating with underwriting professionals and agents to promote Zurich's risk transfer insurance solutions across various business sectors.
Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record background check due to the provision of a company vehicle. This position may be filled at either the Consultant or Senior Consultant level, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Basic Qualifications:
For Consultant Level:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, OR
- Zurich Certified Apprentice with an Associate's degree and 3 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, along with
- Experience in teamwork and relevant risk assessment as per Property competency standards.
For Senior Consultant Level:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 8 years of experience in Property Risk Engineering, along with
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and teamwork experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Fire Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience with HPR properties.
- Background in Property Loss Control/Risk Engineering within the insurance sector.
- Certification as a Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).
- Strong communication and consultative skills.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate effectively.
- Proven track record of successful teamwork.
- Proficiency in PC and MS-Office Software.
