Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Citywide Sales Executive to join our team at Marriott International. As a key member of our sales and marketing team, you will be responsible for researching and soliciting confirmed citywide convention business for our local Marriott hotels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual marketing game plans to confirm local Marriott brands have a full presence in citywide conventions.
  • Solicit customers who use Marriott brands in alternating convention cities to use local Marriott properties in the market.
  • Research and solicit show affiliate groups to use the housing bureau services in order to maximize housing room block commitment.
  • Secure lists of approved affiliates from citywide hosts and work with catering/event internal partners to market food and beverage facilities to citywide affiliates.
  • Handle proposals and site inspections and negotiate services of hotels for each business opportunity.
  • Grow account preference, loyalty, and share through the effective use of reviews and critiques from previous conventions.
  • Promote properties via marketing channels to citywide exhibitors and affiliates.
  • Handle opportunity management tasks for citywide events and pull through citywide group business for properties in the market.
  • Communicate, through turnover, all contractual terms and needs of the customer once a contract is signed to verify that convention contract terms are met.
  • Work with event and housing coordinators at each property to verify that planning and room block management is always current.
  • Maintain calendars for each property of citywide participation.
  • Maximize use of convention calendar to deliver timely, accurate information of citywide demand to stakeholders.
  • Understand the needs of each property and their revenue strategy. Partner with the Director of Group Strategy and/or Room Inventory Manager to strategically price hotels in the market to win market share and grow RevPar.
  • Understand the overall market, competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc., and know how to sell against them.
  • Closely the best opportunities for each property based on market conditions and individual property needs.
  • Achieve revenue and sales goals at each property as defined by Market leadership.
  • Develop and achieve operating budgets and manage controllable expenses.
  • Contribute to the team goal at each property.
  • Drive short-term and future business at each property.
  • Drive revenue via multi-year contract plans, where appropriate.
  • Use financial contributions from each property for marketing programs and tools.
  • Leverage methodologies, technical, and business knowledge across the market.
  • Anticipate and identify business opportunities and challenges and respond with a profitable strategy that aligns with overall business direction.
  • Increase local penetration to optimize demand across all brands and satisfy important property needs.
  • Leverage all available sales channels, such as group and transient intermediaries, field sales, worldwide reservation offices, etc., in an effort to optimize sales revenues.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced sales and marketing professional with a strong background in convention and visitor bureau liaison work. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or GED, or 2 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or related professional.
  • Or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major, with no work experience required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, convention hotel and/or convention visitor bureau experience, citywide sales and/or association experience, and Enterprise Sales Team experience.

We offer a competitive salary range of $72,600 to $133,100 annually, as well as a quarterly bonus.
