Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Lead Professional Learning Opportunities: Design and deliver professional development programs for teachers, student and family support staff, and other union members to enhance their knowledge and skills in implementing the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Contribute to the Supportive Infrastructure: Collaborate with community leaders, develop strategic partnerships, and present actionable data to support the implementation of the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Develop and Advance Education Advocacy Initiatives: Work with student, family, and community leaders to develop and advance education advocacy initiatives that align with the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Share and Document Lessons Learned: Identify and document best practices and lessons learned from the implementation of the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Build Knowledge and Capacity: Work with internal and external collaborators to build knowledge and capacity in support of the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Communicate and Engage: Establish internal and external systems for communicating about activities and services related to the Hub Schools strategy, and facilitate large and small-scale community engagement events and training.
  • Represent the Hub School Strategy: Represent the Hub School strategy in various public forums as needed, and participate in advocacy activities to promote the Hub School strategy.
  • Identify Strategic Partnerships: Identify strategic partnerships aligned to the six practices of the Hub Schools strategy to support implementation and areas in need of support, and establish next steps to support future implementation efforts.
  • Support Grant Writing: Identify and support in the writing of potential grants that support the work of the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Review and Analyze Data: Assist the Executive Director in reviewing any relevant Hub Schools budgets, grants, and stipends, and provide analysis and recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide Cross-Training and Technical Assistance: Provide cross-training and technical assistance to other members within the department to enhance their knowledge and skills in implementing the Hub Schools strategy.
  • Support Learning and Progress: Support the learning of school-based Community Hub School Coordinators about what constitutes effective implementation of the Hub Schools strategy, and track progress towards goals outlined in the Quality School Plan.
  • Collect and Analyze Data: Collect, analyze, and monitor relevant implementation data to identify successes, develop new strategies, and plan for continuous improvement of strategies, policies, practices, and programs.
  • Promote Data Transparency: Present key data findings with relevant colleagues and collaborators, and facilitate shared responsibility for successes and underachievement with a solution orientation.
  • Support Evaluation and Metrics: Support the evaluation of the Boston Community Hub School strategy through timely submission of reports for various stakeholders, and coordinate data collection.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, social work, or a related field.
  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking: Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred, other languages desired.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a diversely skilled workforce.
  • Cultural Awareness and Competency: A high degree of cultural awareness and competency in cross-cultural practice with children and families.
  • Experience in Collaboration: Experience in collaboration, meeting facilitation, problem solving, and team building.
  • Ability to Manage Multiple Priorities: Ability to manage multiple priorities, be a team player, and a self-starter.
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal communication, organizational skills, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Boston Public Schools: Knowledge of Boston Public Schools, as well as the operation of community-based organizations and institutions of higher education, is an asset.
  • Teaching/Educator Experience: Teaching/educator experience in urban public schools.
Terms (Salary and Benefits)

BTU, Assignment Transfer Specialist (ST3) salary schedule.

Work Year: The Citywide coordinators will work 8 hours each school day and their work year will be 223 days. The work year shall include the 180 days that students are in school (the "school year"), and 43 days outside of the school year. The additional 43 days shall be scheduled collaboratively between the Coordinator and their supervisor.
