Position Overview:

The Citywide Hub Schools Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the collaboration between the Boston Teachers Union (BTU) and Boston Public Schools (BPS) hub schools. This position involves working closely with city and district leaders, lead agencies, intermediaries, and community stakeholders to refine and enhance the Boston Community Hub Schools initiative. The Coordinator will contribute to the establishment of a cohesive system of support services and opportunities tailored for students and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate professional development sessions focused on the Hub Schools initiative
  • Assist in the development of infrastructure for community school transformation
  • Promote educational advocacy efforts
  • Document and share best practices
  • Organize community engagement activities and training sessions
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to improve knowledge and support
  • Establish effective communication channels regarding Hub Schools activities
  • Represent the Hub Schools initiative in public discussions
  • Identify and foster strategic partnerships that align with the Hub Schools vision
  • Support grant writing efforts to secure funding for initiatives
  • Review and manage relevant budgets, grants, and stipends
  • Provide guidance and training to school-based coordinators
  • Assist school-based coordinators in executing the Hub Schools strategy
  • Organize professional development opportunities for staff
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor progress and inform decision-making
  • Encourage transparency and accountability in data reporting
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Boston Community Hub Schools strategy
  • Support the overall goals and metrics of the initiative
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, social work, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities
  • Experience in collaboration, problem-solving, and team dynamics
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a team
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational capabilities
  • Familiarity with Boston Public Schools and community-based organizations
  • Teaching experience in urban public school settings

Compensation and Benefits:

Citywide coordinators will adhere to the BTU's salary schedule, working 8 hours per school day for a total of 223 days annually. This includes the standard school days and additional days scheduled in collaboration with their supervisor.
