Position Summary: The Principal Architect is tasked with spearheading client engagement and guiding project teams through all stages of the project delivery process. Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the K12 Practice Studio Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expand the client portfolio by pursuing targets established in partnership with Practice Studio Leaders.
  • Serve as a representative for JLG within the community, enhancing the firm's reputation as the preferred choice for client engagements.
  • Maintain a holistic view to ensure that client objectives are met and expectations are surpassed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members as needed throughout the project.
  • Ensure adherence to JLG processes for project improvement and proper phase closure.
  • While the Principal Architect/Project Manager serves as the primary client liaison, maintain a connection with the client as a project sponsor.
  • Uphold JLG's status as the preferred firm, exceed client expectations, and secure positive recommendations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution, current architectural licensure, and NCARB record, with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience post-licensure.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and leadership for projects with construction budgets exceeding $30M, achieving project goals, budgets, and timelines.
  • A minimum of 5 consecutive years of experience within a studio environment.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, capable of building client trust, managing difficult discussions, and exhibiting confidence in public speaking and presentations.
  • Highly self-motivated problem-solver with proven leadership abilities to mentor, empower, and develop staff.
  • Evidence of community engagement and the ability to enhance brand visibility and foster relationships to secure work.
  • Thorough understanding of architectural business and construction processes for effective budgeting, planning, and project delivery.
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes, architectural science, and JLG standards and processes.
