Position Overview:

The Senior Analyst of Financial Reporting collaborates closely with the Accounting and Finance Operations teams to prepare consolidated financial statements and manage external reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly consolidation working papers and reports for the Finance Leadership team.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of regulatory filings in compliance with the Corporation's obligations as a Foreign Private Issuer on the New York Stock Exchange and other public filing requirements related to various listed debt securities. Review supporting schedules for specific note disclosures.
  • Review monthly working papers prepared by Finance Operations.
  • Prepare and review audit working papers and address inquiries from external and internal auditors.
  • Review journal entries and conduct analyses related to all major financial statement captions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of annual and quarterly financial statements for statutory reporting.
  • Assist in resolving complex accounting reconciliations.
  • Support the review, analysis, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to process redevelopment and enhancement of internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Participate in finance transformation projects aimed at optimizing the financial close and reporting processes through best practices and technology.
  • Provide training to new team members, including those in Finance Operations, as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Certification in a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., CPA).
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in audit and/or industry, with exposure to financial statement preparation and disclosure.
  • Experience with foreign currency transactions and intercompany transactions.
  • Strong understanding of complex account reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and process redevelopment.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills to lead and mentor less experienced staff members.
  • Able to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Robust analytical skills.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with public companies and SEC requirements.
  • Some experience in a multi-office organization.
  • Familiarity with financial systems software (e.g., NetSuite).

Job Demands and Physical Requirements:

  • Periodic overtime may be required to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences.

Compensation and Benefits:

Seaspan's total compensation is based on a pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who exemplify our high-performance culture. The hiring range for this position is $90,000 - $100,600 CAD per annum. The exact base salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, job-related skills, and internal pay equity. In addition to base salary, we provide a competitive total rewards package, including an annual performance-based bonus, a comprehensive benefits package (extended health, dental, life, and disability insurance), retirement savings plan matching, and other company-provided rewards.
