Overview:
The Facilities Operations Manager role is a key position within the organization.

This role encompasses overseeing unionized field personnel in the Facilities Service Department across the Southern Region. Responsibilities include ensuring adequate staffing levels, adherence to company policies, and the provision of both technical and safety training for field technicians. The manager will also focus on maintaining high-quality work standards and optimizing labor productivity.

This position directly supervises a labor force of approximately 200 skilled technicians, including Supervisors, Foremen, Journeymen, Apprentices, and specialized service personnel.


Accountabilities:


1. Ensure optimal staffing levels to meet workload demands while maximizing productivity.

2. Oversee the safety inspection process for the Southern Region Facilities Service sites.

3. Maintain a balanced labor mix of skilled trades to remain competitive in the market.

4. Provide timely and fair counseling to employees as needed.

5. Regularly update the Policy and Procedure Manual for field personnel.


6. Organize and facilitate monthly safety meetings, ensuring all technicians engage with their supervisors on safety topics.

7. Collaborate with the Safety Department to plan and conduct semi-annual safety meetings and assist in investigating job site incidents.

8. Analyze GPS reporting to recognize exemplary driving behaviors and address any issues with poor driving.

9. Review departmental reports to assess productivity and efficiency, utilizing key performance metrics for improvement.

10. Foster communication with Northern Region counterparts and Southern Region Supervisors regarding workloads and employee matters.

11. Mentor staff to enhance job productivity and profitability.

12. Conduct annual performance reviews for Southern Region Supervisors.

13. Address customer complaints and engage with clients as necessary.

14. Collaborate with Service and Construction Sales teams to resolve issues and support operations.

15. Regularly visit job sites to ensure quality standards are met.

16. Work with Systems Operations to manage workloads and resolve warranty concerns.

17. Identify and facilitate necessary technical and customer service training.

18. Continuously seek innovative technologies to enhance competitive advantage.


Qualifications:


- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on field experience.

- At least 5 years in a supervisory role within the field.

- Strong technical expertise in HVAC/Refrigeration, with the ability to instruct others.

- Proven success in managing HVAC retrofit projects within budget.

- Effective public speaking and written communication skills.

- Experience in sales within a service and retrofit context.

- Active involvement with the local union, whether through teaching or serving on boards.

- Strong interviewing and performance evaluation skills.

- Familiarity with ACCO Engineered Systems procedures is preferred.

- Supervisory experience at ACCO Engineered Systems is an advantage.

Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to lift and move items up to 20 pounds and includes regular standing, walking, and communication activities. The individual must be capable of visiting job sites and climbing ladders as necessary.


Compensation:
This position is for signatory employees, with wages aligned to current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
