Your Role in Making an Impact (Position Overview)

As the Senior Manager of Global Sourcing and Continuous Improvement, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our organization by establishing a dependable and cost-efficient supply chain that propels business expansion. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of commodities/products, focusing on supplier selection, management, and strategic initiatives aimed at Continuous Improvement. The ideal candidate will be proactive, results-oriented, and possess a strong passion for strategic sourcing and supplier relations.

Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)

Your daily tasks will include:

  1. Supplier Sourcing Management
  • Develop the annual sourcing strategy for global operations across various commodity categories (e.g., PCBA's, Metals, Plastics, Batteries, Cable) aimed at identifying cost-saving opportunities, assessing risks, and analyzing spending trends to create a procurement roadmap.
  • Oversee a multi-year cost savings initiative, monitor progress towards goals, and devise strategies to achieve targets while minimizing adverse effects on Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
  • Maintain global supplier scorecards, collaborating with departments to compile supplier performance metrics in areas such as product quality, timely delivery, and service standards.
  • Collaborate with key suppliers to enhance stocking programs and spearhead joint cost optimization projects.
  • Facilitate the execution of supply agreements in partnership with the legal team to safeguard against unforeseen excess or obsolete materials at suppliers.
  • Provide monthly market trend reports for key commodity categories to leadership, prepared to swiftly implement strategies to capitalize on or shield against sudden market shifts.
  • Lead the development and execution of special or strategic supply chain initiatives.
  • Manage inventory strategies and guide procurement teams in analyzing usage, supplier lead times, and material availability using SAP and the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) methodology to achieve zero stockouts.
  • Support inventory turnover objectives by monitoring procurement performance in alignment with Lean principles of closely matching supply and demand.
  • Proactively manage material obsolescence processes in collaboration with the Finance department.
  1. Relationship Management
  • Develop and lead a global team of procurement professionals, ensuring alignment with the specific business needs of each operational location.
  • Foster commercial relationships with all suppliers, aiming for optimal cost and performance through mutually beneficial partnerships while reinforcing suppliers' understanding of SPX policies, design standards, budget expectations, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development on component and supplier selection for new initiatives and alternative sourcing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, addressing potential supply chain and supplier issues with urgency and proposing viable solutions.
  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Identify breakthrough improvement opportunities using data-driven problem-solving and Pareto analysis techniques.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing methodologies, including Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kaizen, 5S, and Visual Management.
  • Utilize Lean and Six Sigma tools to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control project processes.
  • Regularly report project progress to relevant leadership levels.
  • Recognize barriers to project success and seek assistance as necessary.
  • Document lessons learned and share best practices with other Continuous Improvement leaders.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Education)

We are seeking a candidate who possesses:

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in global manufacturing environments with escalating responsibilities across multiple sites and products.
  • A proven track record of enhancing productivity and value through effective negotiations and supplier management.
  • Experience with formal processes for supplier selection, qualification, contracting, and management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and comprehensive supply chain management processes (concept, planning, development, launch).
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, matrixed environment meeting diverse customer needs.

  • Knowledge of Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Capacity Planning (CP), Bills of Materials (BOM), and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Project management skills with a focus on meeting targets.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities.
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge (certification preferred).

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP Certification preferred.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 25%.
  • Office environment with occasional exposure to a manufacturing setting.
