Your Role in Making an Impact (Position Overview)

In your capacity as the Senior Manager of Global Sourcing and Continuous Improvement, you will play a pivotal role in driving the organization's success by establishing a dependable and cost-efficient supply chain that fosters business expansion. Your responsibilities will encompass managing a category of commodities/products, including supplier selection, management, and strategy, while spearheading Continuous Improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be proactive, results-oriented, and possess a strong passion for strategic sourcing and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)

Your daily activities will include:

  1. Supplier Sourcing Management
  • Developing an annual sourcing strategy for global operations across various commodity categories (e.g., PCBA's, Metals, Plastics, Batteries, Cable) aimed at identifying cost-saving opportunities, risk factors, and spending trends, while creating a procurement roadmap.
  • Managing a multi-year cost savings pipeline, tracking progress toward goals, and formulating strategies to achieve targets while minimizing adverse impacts on Purchase Price Variance (PPV).
  • Maintaining global supplier scorecards by collaborating with various departments to collect supplier performance data, focusing on aspects such as part quality, on-time delivery, and service levels.
  • Collaborating with key suppliers to enhance stocking programs and lead joint cost optimization efforts.
  • Executing supply agreements in partnership with the legal department to ensure coverage against unforeseen excess or obsolete materials at suppliers.
  • Providing monthly market trends reports for key commodity categories to company leadership and being prepared to swiftly implement strategies to address sudden market changes.
  • Leading the development and execution of special or strategic supply chain projects and initiatives.
  • Overseeing inventory initiatives and guiding buyers in analyzing usage, supplier lead times, and material availability by utilizing SAP and the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to achieve zero stockouts.
  • Supporting inventory turnover targets by monitoring buyer performance in accordance with Lean principles, aligning supply and demand as closely as possible.
  • Proactively managing material obsolescence processes in collaboration with the Finance department.
  1. Relationship Management
  • Leading and developing a global team of procurement professionals, addressing specific business needs for each location.
  • Enhancing commercial relationships with all suppliers, focusing on achieving optimal cost and performance through mutually beneficial partnerships while reinforcing suppliers' understanding of SPX policies, design standards, budget and cost targets, service, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Product Development on component/supplier selection for new programs and alternative sourcing.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Communicating with professionalism, both verbally and in writing, while addressing potential supply chain and supplier issues with urgency and proposing solutions.
  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Identifying breakthrough improvement opportunities through data-driven analysis, process problem-solving, and Pareto analysis techniques.
  • Implementing Lean Manufacturing methodologies, including Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kaizen, 5S, and Visual Management.
  • Utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control project processes.
  • Regularly reporting project progress to appropriate leadership levels.
  • Identifying barriers to project success and seeking assistance as necessary.
  • Documenting lessons learned and sharing best practices with other Continuous Improvement Leaders.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We are seeking a candidate who possesses:

Required Experience

  • Over 7 years of relevant experience in global manufacturing environments with increasing responsibilities across multiple sites and products.
  • A proven track record of driving productivity and value through negotiations and supplier management.
  • Experience with formal processes for supplier selection, qualification, contracting, and management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and the end-to-end supply chain management process (concept, planning, development, launch).
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, satisfying multiple customers.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Capacity Planning (CP), Bills of Materials (BOM), and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Project management skills with a focus on meeting targets.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge (certification preferred).

Education & Certifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP Certification is preferred.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 25% of the time.
  • Office environment with occasional exposure to a plant/manufacturing setting.
