Current Opportunity:
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team. This role is crucial in providing technical engineering and project control support for our heavy civil and transportation construction initiatives. The Project Engineer will collaborate closely with the Project Manager to enforce policies and procedures essential for project success. A thorough understanding of contract specifications, documents, and the scope of work, including subcontracts and purchase orders, is expected. The Project Engineer will also assist in developing project status reports and profit forecasts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and teams on project deliverables.
  • Oversee material deliveries, ensuring proper inspection for quantity and quality in accordance with contract documents.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in the development and updating of project schedules.
  • Coordinate and schedule shop drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain accurate records of submittals, approvals, and resubmittals, including a comprehensive file of transmittal letters and transaction dates.
  • Engage in the operations of our cost control system and analyze construction costs.
  • Participate in monthly revenue forecasting and cost accruals.
  • Compile necessary data and prepare monthly payment estimates.
  • Process and estimate change orders and requests for information as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Adhere to OHLA USA's policies and procedures, including safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of field experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Safety-oriented; 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certifications are preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team player.
  • Capability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
  • Previous experience with NYCT projects is advantageous.
  • Experience with bridge, steel, or concrete projects is highly preferred.
