Job Overview:

• Assessment and documentation of negative gynecological cases, along with the evaluation and interpretation of abnormal gynecological, non-gynecological, and fine needle aspiration cases.
• Cytology specialists are tasked with identifying diagnostic materials and appropriately referring cases to pathologists.
• Participate as a member of the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) team, providing on-site adequacy evaluations of FNA procedures.
• Offer technical guidance and perform cytopreparation and processing as necessary.
• Responsible for maintaining records of screening slide counts and other relevant activities.
• Ensure Quality Control records are maintained where applicable.
• Assist in collecting data pertinent to quality assurance initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and/or other special projects.

Preferred Qualifications: Recent experience in a hospital setting
License Requirements: Illinois does not mandate a cytology license; only a CT(ASCP) certification is required.
Educational Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology, Biology, or Life Sciences, along with successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.
• Candidates must possess CT (ASCP) certification.
