Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and competitive pricing for maritime and industrial repair projects. The Estimator will engage in various tasks that contribute to the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop detailed fixed price estimates for labor and materials related to maritime ship repair and industrial refurbishment.
  2. Assess work methodologies, team composition, machinery, subcontractors, materials, and necessary tools to deliver competitive pricing with acceptable profit margins.
  3. Collaborate with Walashek personnel and trades to gather essential information and fulfill project requirements.
  4. Conduct thorough site assessments to accurately define project scopes.
  5. Secure timely and precise bill of material (BOM) quotes.
  6. Foster and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and clients within the industry.
  7. Continuously update and manage the contract pipeline in conjunction with management.
  8. Prepare estimates and quotations in alignment with established corporate guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional college or technical training is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in estimating and project planning.

Work Environment:

The position may involve exposure to various hazards typical of a shipyard setting, including:

  • Fall and trip hazards
  • Fire risks
  • Confined spaces
  • High noise levels
  • Physical activities such as climbing, crouching, and kneeling
  • Office settings
  • Access to government and site offices for technical documentation

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and high performance.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure with minimal oversight.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and company values.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project.
