Job Summary

The University of Findlay is seeking an experienced and skilled Executive Director of Advancement to join our team. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that reports directly to the Vice President for University Advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure major gifts and unrestricted operating dollars from private sources, corporations, and foundations.
  • Manage and evaluate a team of fund-raising staff, including major gift officers, annual fund officers, and other development professionals.
  • Identify and recruit volunteer campaign leaders to support the university's fundraising efforts.
  • Collaborate with the public information staff to design a marketing and outreach strategy to promote the university's fundraising initiatives.
  • Work closely with academic deans and their advisory boards to develop and implement fundraising strategies that support the university's academic programs.
  • Develop and implement a moves management system to strategically move prospective donors through the development process.
  • Oversee the development of campaign materials, including solicitation proposals and other fundraising materials.
  • Coordinate with alumni and parent relations office to develop effective outreach initiatives.
  • Participate in the fundraising process, including meeting with major gift prospects, designing individual prospect strategies, and preparing written solicitation proposals.
  • Generate new prospective donor leads through regular communication with financial advisors, bankers, attorneys, and other professionals.
  • Attend on- and off-campus events to steward current donors, cultivate prospective donors, and increase contacts with alumni and friends of the institution.
  • Provide guidance and direction to key faculty and staff members as their involvement in the fundraising process is warranted.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Significant professional experience within a corporate environment, preferably in academic fundraising, corporate fundraising, or related sales or equivalent position.
  • Five years of professional experience, preferably in academic fundraising, corporate fundraising, or related sales or equivalent position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Travel

A valid US driver's license with a safe driving record is required, and the energy and ability to travel 8-10 days a month. Some evening and weekend work, and some overnight travel are expectations of this position.
