Culinary Production Specialist

OBJECTIVE OF THIS ROLE

The main objective of the Culinary Production Specialist position is to exhibit a strong enthusiasm for culinary arts and service, while preparing meals in compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of Birchaven Village. This role is also guided by the ethical standards and resident rights outlined in the employee handbook, and will be directed by the Food Service Director and/or Sous Chef to ensure that exceptional food service is consistently delivered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility 1: Collaborate on the development and execution of new menu offerings.

Responsibility 2: Exhibit leadership and accountability for performance to guarantee that high-quality food service is provided to every patron.

Responsibility 3: Maintain the primary kitchen in a clean and safe condition.

Responsibility 4: Establish production benchmarks based on standardized preparation methods.

Responsibility 5: Assist in the stabilization of standard recipes.

Responsibility 6: Oversee all food storage areas within the main kitchen and collaborate with the Sous Chef on inventory management in their absence.

Responsibility 7: Adhere to the unit's dress code and participate in scheduled meetings and mandatory training sessions.

Responsibility 8: Demonstrate service excellence by embodying the mission, vision, and values of the organization to enhance resident satisfaction.

Responsibility 9: Follow organizational policies and procedures to ensure quality job performance and compliance with regulations.

Responsibility 10: Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing basic correspondence and communicating effectively.
  • Ability to apply common sense in executing instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to manage standardized situations with minimal variability.
  • Basic arithmetic skills, including addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a culinary role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in culinary arts.
  • Experience in a professional kitchen environment, particularly in scratch cooking.
  • Certification in food safety.
