Job Title: Lead Data Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to join our team at CAVA - Support Center. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting our future state data platform. This is a key engineering role that requires a combination of technical expertise and strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data pipelines to manage data flow between disparate systems.
  • Develop data quality metrics and perform QC tests to verify data integrity.
  • Interface with architects, product managers, and product analysts to understand data needs and support the implementation of business rules into transformation.
  • Document the data blending process, specifications, and workflow/data lineage.
  • Perform continuous integration to ensure every step of the pipeline is testable and automated.
  • Analyze data integration problems, provide solutions, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze source system data structures and map them to target data warehouse schemas.
  • Ensure security and data protection measures are implemented within software applications.
  • Manage timeline expectations within and across teams and deliver on responsibilities accordingly.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
  • Experience and comfort working with large-scale data sets, petabyte scale, with daily ingress and egress numbers in the 10's of Terabytes.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing data architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Expertise in managed cloud services for data storage, ingestion, and processing.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, R, Scala, or Java.
  • Experience with notebook environments and big data engineering tools.
  • Hands-on experience with streaming tools such as Kafka, Flume, Spark Streaming, or Flink.
