Job Summary

Amherst College seeks a highly skilled IT Project Manager to lead strategic initiatives and drive business outcomes. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in project management, with experience in both Agile and traditional methodologies.

The IT Project Manager will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and leadership to ensure successful project outcomes. This includes analyzing business and IT processes to identify inefficiencies and gaps, and developing and implementing effective solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a high degree of professionalism, outstanding oral and written communication abilities, and the ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.

Additionally, the IT Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders to enhance the efficacy of business and IT processes, and will be expected to keep their skills and knowledge current and up-to-date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Analyze business and IT processes to identify inefficiencies and gaps
  • Develop and implement effective solutions
  • Work closely with various stakeholders to enhance the efficacy of business and IT processes
  • Keep skills and knowledge current and up-to-date

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • A high degree of professionalism
  • Outstanding oral and written communication abilities
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals
  • Experience in a Project Management (or equivalent) role for 5-8 years
  • Commitment to effectively working with a diverse community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a technology field
  • Strong background in project management with experience in both Agile and traditional methodologies
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience handling implementations and upgrades in a complex IT environment
  • Certification in PMP, CAPM, CSM, and/or ITIL4
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience managing capital IT projects
  • Certification in one or more Project Management methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
  • Demonstrated planning and Project Management skills within a higher education environment
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively summarize and present information through reports and dashboards
  • Experience with multiple project management toolsets, specifically including Asana
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate accessibility and a commitment to diversity in their work
