Position Overview:

The Quality Assurance Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of products at Rochester Precision Optics. This position involves providing expert technical assistance within the Quality Control Inspection sector. The individual will conduct and instruct others in quality control testing and inspection methodologies, making informed decisions regarding product and process acceptability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver technical support for all elements of the ISO 9001 quality management framework.
  • Evaluate requests for quotations and establish quality assurance support for new projects.
  • Manage records and documentation effectively.
  • Engage in internal quality audits and collaborate with suppliers, customers, and external auditors.
  • Perform cleaning, inspection, and assessment of products against specifications.
  • Lead internal audits and act as an escort during external audits.
  • Provide QA engineering support for production and prototype activities, including risk assessments and quality plans.
  • Select and calibrate inspection and testing equipment, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Make final determinations on product acceptability and manage return material authorizations (RMAs).
  • Conduct training sessions on inspection and measurement techniques.
  • Draft inspection instructions and quality/test plans requiring customer approval.
  • Coordinate environmental and reliability testing as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to enhance the quality of the supplier base.
  • Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and participate in engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Foster professional interactions with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements.

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with quality control inspection tools and methodologies.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Minitab is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret optical and mechanical specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and related standards is preferred.
  • Understanding of advanced quality planning techniques and statistical process control.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • 5 years of experience in quality assurance or related fields.
  • A.A.S. in Quality, Engineering, Technology, or a related discipline; B.S. preferred.

Work Environment:

The role may involve exposure to various environmental conditions typical of a manufacturing setting. Safety protocols and personal protective equipment are mandatory. This position may require occasional travel for business purposes.
