WHY WORK WITH US?
As one of the leading humanitarian entities in the nation, the American Red Cross is devoted to assisting individuals in need across the United States and, in collaboration with other Red Cross networks, globally. Come to learn, grow, and thrive while sharing your passion for making a positive impact.
The Red Cross supports various cultural and community resource groups for employees and volunteers. These networks, including the Ability Network, Asian American & Pacific Islander Resource Group, Latino Resource Group, Red Cross PRIDE, Umoja African American Resource Group, Veterans+ Resource Group, and Women's Resource Group, provide connections, mentorship, and a platform for important concerns and perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
QC Laboratory Technicians are responsible for executing manufacturing and inventory control processes within a highly regulated setting—from the receipt of unprocessed blood to maintaining precise records of finished products in preparation for distribution to healthcare facilities. Successful candidates will exhibit a keen attention to detail, a customer-service orientation, and the ability to treat both internal and external stakeholders with compassion consistently.
As a member of the Red Cross, you will support your colleagues by being present for every shift and committing fully to your responsibilities. Engage positively, proactively, and with a customer-focused mindset with both internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating care and empathy at all times.
WHERE YOUR CAREER MAKES A DIFFERENCE:
Essential Duties:
- Manufacture, label, test, sample, and store blood products/samples in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Achieve the quality and quantity production and distribution targets set by the department, ensuring products/samples are ready for release.
- Implement effective inventory management practices throughout the manufacturing process.
- Operate, maintain, and conduct validation and quality control checks on equipment, ensuring adequate inventory of necessary supplies.
- Perform data entry and utilize computer programs related to component production, labeling, storage, and sample tube management.
- Maintain accurate, legible, and complete records for the manufacturing department, including electronic and physical inventory locations for products/samples.
- Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspections and information from other departments to meet time constraints and quality standards.
- Identify and isolate products/samples that do not meet quality standards and manage the disposition of unacceptable items.
- Execute complex manufacturing tasks such as pooled product manufacturing, freeze, wash, or deglycerolizing of blood products, pathogen reduction, and further processing of apheresis products.
- Participate in the on-the-job training of new staff.
The responsibilities outlined above describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list.
Standard Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 11:00pm-7:30am with rotating weekends and holidays required.
Compensation: $18-$19, plus applicable shift differentials for late nights, overnight shifts, or weekends.
Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned with the specific geographic location where the work is primarily performed. Other factors influencing your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience, and comparisons to other employees in this role.

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, with the ability to use various programs and laboratory equipment, strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and sound decision-making abilities.
