Position Overview:

The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of safety protocols within the organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Safety, this role is crucial in maintaining a secure and healthy workplace for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Development:

  • Formulate and maintain detailed safety policies in collaboration with the Director of Safety.
  • Ensure all safety measures comply with current regulations.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct thorough safety audits and risk evaluations.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement strategies to mitigate risks.

Training and Development:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive safety training sessions for staff.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and best practices among employees.

Incident Analysis:

  • Investigate workplace incidents to ascertain causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Compile detailed reports on findings and corrective actions.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and other pertinent safety regulations.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of safety inspections and compliance activities.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Possess extensive knowledge in the safety management of airport ground support equipment, focusing on maintenance and regulatory adherence.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Develop and execute emergency response strategies.
  • Conduct regular training and drills for emergency scenarios.

Collaboration:

  • Engage with management and staff to cultivate a proactive safety culture.
  • Work alongside external agencies and contractors on safety initiatives.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay informed on industry best practices and regulatory updates.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to safety procedures.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may involve up to 25% travel between locations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in a safety management capacity.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver impactful training programs.
  • Proficient in safety management software and tools.
Physical Demands:

This role requires regular walking, standing, bending, and the ability to lift items weighing up to fifty pounds. Lifting items over fifty pounds will be conducted with assistance.
