Position Summary:

This role is primarily responsible for safeguarding the Resort's commercial property against fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access through various duties performed personally or by subordinates.

Key Responsibilities:

The essential functions listed below are illustrative and not exhaustive of all tasks performed by individuals in this role:

  • Successfully complete the Basic Security Officer Training Series.
  • Conduct patrols of all resort areas, investigating and documenting any unusual occurrences and safety issues.
  • Document, report, and address safety hazards.
  • Prepare detailed incident and/or accident reports, ensuring timely submission.
  • Complete necessary security forms to document loss prevention, safety, and policy violations.
  • During patrols, monitor for suspicious individuals and ensure any trespassers are escorted off the property as necessary.
  • Report all breaches of resort and company policy to the immediate supervisor or department head.
  • Utilize proper radio communication procedures in accordance with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations.
  • Safeguard and adhere to resort procedures regarding master keys and access.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the resort property and comply with all policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Monitor the resort's security system and respond to any security breaches.
  • Assist emergency response personnel during any resort emergencies and/or traffic management situations.
  • Provide basic medical assistance to anyone injured on the property until emergency medical personnel arrive.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all required logs.
  • Maintain proper care and upkeep of Loss Prevention equipment and vehicles.
  • Understand and comply with the Employee Handbook and the Resort's standard operating procedures.
  • Read and comprehend Safety Management guidelines.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Promote safe work practices and a secure work environment at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, an individual must successfully perform each essential duty. The following requirements represent the knowledge and/or skills necessary:

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) to four (4) months of relevant experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid within six (6) months of hire.
  • Valid State of Hawaii Guard License.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of:

  • Fire and Life Safety systems
  • Applicable laws, OSHA codes, and regulations
  • Basic record-keeping practices and incident reporting
  • Department policies and procedures
  • Use of specified computer applications for word processing, data entry, and report generation
  • Proper business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Techniques for interacting with diverse individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, both in person and over the phone

Skills in:

  • Reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Writing basic routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effectively communicating with guests and other employees.
  • Applying common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Addressing problems involving several straightforward standardized situations.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may be exposed to fumes, humidity, and loud noises. Additionally, the associate may be required to perform essential duties during inclement weather.
