Position Overview:

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to provide essential engineering and maintenance support for our electrical systems. This role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant's electrical power distribution, water treatment, and powerhouse systems while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the coordination and safety of maintenance personnel, conducting engineering and failure analyses, and leading system improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the reliable operation and upkeep of the plant's electrical distribution systems, including substations, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Manage equipment related to the Water Treatment Plant and Powerhouse, such as Motor Control Centers and lighting systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering firms, utility providers, and contractors to optimize system performance.
  • Coordinate medium voltage switching operations, develop switching procedures, and assist with electrical outages.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and drawing systems for all equipment.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff as needed, promoting best practices in maintenance and engineering.
  • Understand capital expenditure priorities and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to develop actionable projects.
  • Offer specialized support for resolving operational and functional challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of 2 years of electrical experience in a heavy industrial, military, or utility setting.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database systems.
  • Willingness to learn additional site-specific software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 3 years of electrical experience in relevant environments.
  • Experience in steel mill operations.
  • High voltage experience.
  • At least 1 year of project management experience.
