Job Overview

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required, and while Professional Engineer registration is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Collaborate under the guidance of a senior engineer to:
    • Create electrical equipment layouts, single line diagrams, interconnecting wiring, embedded conduit, cable trays, heat tracing, lighting, and grounding schematics.
    • Develop specifications for electrical equipment and construction.
    • Conduct power studies, including short circuit analysis and incident energy calculations using ETAP or SKM software.
  • Oversee the quality of electrical designs executed by other team members.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the electrical discipline during meetings with project managers, other discipline leads, and clients.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate design details and criteria with other engineering disciplines.
  • Estimate electrical engineering hours required for ongoing projects and new proposals.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly in industrial or manufacturing projects.
  • Proven knowledge of industry codes and standards, including NFPA/NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, API, and ASI.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems at both low and medium voltages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to conduct field/site visits as necessary.
  • Ability to travel, with an estimated travel requirement of 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam is advantageous.
  • P.E. Registration or E.I.T. status is preferred.
  • Experience in leading teams of engineers and designers is a plus.
