Job Overview
Oversees a team of Claims Examiners and Claims Service Representatives who manage intricate claims. Ensures that all claims are handled promptly, effectively, and courteously, with a strong focus on adhering to relevant guidelines. Manages the performance of external vendors and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises Examiners and Service Representatives to guarantee proper claims processing and adherence to established procedures.
  • Monitors the output of external vendors and contractors.
  • Assesses property claims and provides direction and settlement authority to property claims adjusters.
  • Conducts both Open and Closed File Reviews to assess and document overall operational efficiency.
  • Effectively manages loss, loss adjustment expenses, and reserves for property claims.
  • Identifies complex claims and formulates suitable claims strategies and settlement solutions.
  • Researches, reviews, and interprets policy language and state regulations as required.
  • Handles and resolves unique cases or problem claims, evaluating claims and addressing policy coverage issues beyond staff authority.
  • Assists in formulating policies and procedures for the department, setting strategic goals and objectives, and providing direction and support.
  • Communicates effectively with agents, policyholders, Claims Unit personnel, Underwriting, Human Resources, Finance/Accounting, and Chief Claims Officer. Engages with external business partners and exercises independent judgment.
  • Develops a cohesive and efficient team that consistently delivers high-quality customer service.
  • Establishes leadership and growth objectives for team members while collaborating with teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Performs additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to supervise and guide Examiners and Service Representatives in claims processing, performance, compliance, strategy, and settlement authority.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to evaluate coverages, interpret insurance policies, and determine appropriate settlement strategies.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with internal departments, direct reports, and external vendors, stakeholders, and policyholders.
  • Capability to identify and interpret complex, special, or large loss claims and devise appropriate resolution strategies.
  • Proficient in continuously monitoring team performance, providing goals, evaluations, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Florida All Lines Adjuster License (620 License) is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or a combination of education and significant relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in processing Homeowners claims, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational abilities.
Direct Reports
Responsible for managing Claims Examiners and Claims Service Representatives, as well as overseeing external vendors and contractors.

Work Environment
This position operates within a professional office setting. The role typically involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, and reach with hands and arms.
