Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent qualification is required.

Preferred: At least one year of experience in custodial or maintenance roles.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.

Familiarity with standard cleaning products and tools is expected.

Prior experience in cleaning and sanitizing surfaces is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Capability to perform outdoor tasks as needed.

A valid driver's license is required.

Participation in The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program is mandatory.

Ability to comprehend written instructions and communicate effectively.

Proficiency in using a telephone and basic computer applications.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary.

Software Skills:

Familiarity with Jotform, UpKeep, Office 365, and Outlook is beneficial.

Scope of Position:

Under the supervision of the Lead Custodian, the Evening Custodian is tasked with ensuring that all facilities are maintained in a professional, clean, and welcoming manner. Responsibilities include cleaning communal areas such as kitchens and restrooms, as well as performing additional tasks such as setting up rooms and moving furniture as directed by the Janitorial Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of property and equipment.
  2. Conduct general cleaning and upkeep of the building.
  3. Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors as required.
  4. Restock and sanitize restrooms.
  5. Secure doors after hours.
  6. Address spills promptly using appropriate methods.
  7. Carry out minor repairs as needed.
  8. Report major repair needs to supervisors.
  9. Collect and dispose of waste materials.
  10. Complete assigned tasks efficiently with minimal oversight.
  11. Ensure cleaning supplies are adequately stocked.
  12. Perform additional duties such as room setups and furniture relocation.
  13. Fulfill any other responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation. Individuals with disabilities may request modifications to meet physical requirements. The Salvation Army will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests.

Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.

Ability to grasp, push, pull objects, and reach overhead.

Ability to operate a telephone and a desktop or laptop computer.

Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
