As a Medical Receptionist at Piedmont Healthcare PA, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office. Your primary responsibilities will include greeting patients, answering phone calls, and managing appointments and registrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients in a polite and helpful manner, providing necessary instructions and directions.
- Complete necessary paperwork, such as encounter forms, and use our computer system to generate information for billing.
- Update patient information, collect co-pays, and provide necessary forms for completion.
- Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area and reading materials.

- Assist with photocopying, computer input, and scheduling laboratory or radiology work as directed.
- Count the cash drawer daily and make bank deposits as necessary.
- Open and close the office at appointed times.
- Collect, sort, distribute, and prepare mail as assigned by the office.
- Key charges and make edits as necessary, as assigned by the office.
- Check and maintain office supply inventory, as assigned by the office.
- Prepare prescriptions for pharmacies, as assigned by the office.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Attend office staff meetings, record minutes, and maintain a file accessible to all staff.
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service setting, with at least six months of receptionist experience in a healthcare setting.
Requirements:
50 wpm typing skill preferred.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of reception tasks, clinic policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of how to use office equipment, including phones and computers.
- Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques.
- Skill in using office equipment satisfactorily and handling paperwork and filing adequately.
- Skill in customer service principles by creating a pleasant waiting room atmosphere.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions and file correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.
Environmental/Working Conditions:
Office setting, well-ventilated and well-lit.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Sitting or standing for long periods of time, requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity, and must be able to view computer screens for long periods. Occasional stress related to workload and customers with problems.
