Piedmont HealthCare seeks a skilled Medical Practitioner to join our team in providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assessing patient health status, determining appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and providing acute and chronic patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assess patient health status and determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  2. Provide acute and chronic patient care, including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, and suturing wounds.
  3. Triage patient calls and evaluate patient problems.
  4. Respond to emergencies, including the use of CPR.
  5. Document patient information and care provided in patient records and maintain department statistics.
  6. Educate patients and families as appropriate and provide continuity of care.
  7. Consult with other staff as necessary.
  8. Maintain patient confidentiality.
Requirements:
Education: BA/BS, MS preferred. Graduate of AMA-accredited physician assistant program.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a physician assistant, preferably in a clinic setting.
Requirements: Maintain valid PA license for the state of North Carolina, certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. CPR certification as required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  1. Knowledge of acute and chronic care protocols, administration of medications, and delivering physical care following treatment plans.
  2. Knowledge of how to assess patient health and measure/record physiologic and growth indices.
  3. Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques and patient learning measurements.
  4. Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
  5. Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
  6. Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.
  7. Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
  8. Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
Environmental/Working Conditions: Medical office and exam room settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to clinics. Frequent contact with a variety of people.
Physical/Mental Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting. Requires ability to help transfer patients. Occasional stress from dealing with multiple tasks and tense patients. Requires full range of motion, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
