GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Operations Manager (OM) plays a crucial role in embodying Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values to cultivate a high-performing team that consistently achieves sales growth for the store. The OM oversees a team of Task Associates and the Merchandise Manager (MM), and is responsible for assisting in the management of retail operations, including store layouts, inventory management, and various lifecycle processes (e.g., cycle counts, returns, and inventory adjustments). This leader drives the store's business performance through a focus on results (sales, inventory metrics, and operational compliance), team development (talent acquisition, training), and process optimization (standard operating procedures and compliance). This role requires a commitment to operational excellence, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to lead and develop a team through challenges.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Job Functions)

The OM is a champion of Ulta Beauty's mission, vision, and values, and should demonstrate them consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):

Performance

Foster a culture of accountability to achieve or surpass the store's objectives related to sales, customer loyalty, payroll management, and operational efficiency. Enhance company profitability through operational excellence, sales growth, and effective expense management. Utilize store forecasts and payroll budgets to optimize scheduling and communicate needs to the General Manager to maximize productivity and meet sales goals. Regularly review and respond to financial and operational reports, including store audits and performance metrics. Leverage company resources to drive improvements that align with Ulta Beauty's objectives for the store. Engage with customers through product demonstrations and consultations to enhance sales and customer service. Stay informed about industry trends and product knowledge to better serve customers. Maintain consistent attendance and hold team members accountable to attendance policies.

People

Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent, efficiently addressing staffing needs for the store. Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through effective collaboration and communication. Create an inclusive environment that inspires growth and engagement among associates. Support all aspects of professional development, including training, feedback, performance reviews, and succession planning. Participate in ongoing training to enhance professional development and drive sales performance. Ensure direct reports engage in continuous training to foster professional growth. Establish vendor partnerships that support collaborative delivery on expectations. Model a culture of operational excellence by working alongside the leadership team and providing clear direction. Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to enhance the customer experience and drive business results.

Process

Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards. Adhere to and enforce the company's dress code. Oversee the execution of operational focuses, including inventory management and store layouts. Utilize scheduling tools to manage attendance and ensure accurate reporting. Manage inventory and ordering processes to adhere to budgetary constraints. Protect company assets by ensuring compliance with operational standards. Support continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technology. Communicate feedback to leadership on business trends and operational challenges.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree is preferred

Experience

2-3+ years of experience in fast-paced retail management or relevant fields. Proven success in driving sales, managing budgets, and controlling expenses. Experience in retail management with a focus on inventory control and operational excellence. Demonstrated ability to attract and develop top talent and lead teams through change.

Skills

Proficient in basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale systems, Microsoft Office). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong collaboration and interpersonal abilities. Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks. Ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing situations.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Flexible full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be available for shifts on Sundays and Mondays. Attend corporate meetings and conferences as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Continuous mobility throughout the store during shifts. Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, and reaching during shifts. Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs. during shifts. Frequent use of computers and office supplies.

The pay range for this position is $31.00 per hour, with opportunities for additional compensation based on performance.
