Lead Satellite Systems Engineer

Position Overview:
As a Senior Satellite Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing mission-specific real-time operations of spacecraft and satellites throughout various phases including readiness, execution, and evaluation. Your role will involve crafting comprehensive plans and procedures aimed at optimizing mission support in critical areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance assessment, and command and control of operational satellites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for on-orbit mission support, developing strategies for addressing critical vehicle malfunctions and proposing alternative operational techniques to ensure continuous mission effectiveness.
- Conduct failure analysis of satellite performance utilizing telemetry data, and leverage system software to execute all spacecraft control tasks while recommending enhancements.
- Analyze and validate software performance, perform orbit adjustments, and engage in daily special event studies.
Qualifications:
- A degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Information Technology, or Cyber Security is preferred.
- Experience as a Systems Engineer in satellite systems may substitute for formal education.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate a diverse technical team.
- Proven leadership capabilities in a technical environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with SBIRS spacecraft bus and payload commanding and operations is highly desirable. You should demonstrate a strong ability to swiftly resolve complex technical or operational challenges and space system anomalies.
Proficiency in programming languages and technologies such as C, C++, C#, Java, XML, Windows, .NET, and UNIX, as well as experience in system software development, web development, system analysis, and cyber security is advantageous.
Security Clearance: This position necessitates a government security clearance; candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Work Environment: This role requires on-site presence at a designated facility, with various work schedule options available to provide flexibility.
