Principal Satellite Systems Specialist

Position Overview:
As a key member of our team, you will oversee mission-specific real-time operations for spacecraft and satellites during various phases including readiness, execution, and evaluation. Your role will involve crafting comprehensive plans and procedures aimed at optimizing mission support in critical areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance evaluation, and command/control of operational satellites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance for on-orbit mission operations, develop strategies for addressing critical vehicle malfunctions, and suggest alternative operating methods to ensure uninterrupted mission support.
- Conduct failure analysis on satellite performance using telemetry data, employing system software to execute all spacecraft control tasks while recommending enhancements.
- Analyze and validate software performance, execute flight length orbit adjustments, and perform daily special event studies.
Qualifications:
- A degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Professional experience as a Systems Engineer in satellite systems may substitute for a formal STEM degree.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to motivate a diverse team in a technical setting.
- Proven leadership capabilities in managing technical teams.
Certifications:
- Security Plus certification is required.
Preferred Experience:
Demonstrated proficiency in SBIRS spacecraft bus and payload commanding and operations is highly desirable. You should possess a strong ability to swiftly resolve complex technical or operational challenges, including space system anomalies.
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with programming languages and technologies such as C, C++, C#, Java, XML, Windows, .NET, UNIX, and expertise in system software development, scripting, web development, system analysis, design, and cybersecurity is advantageous.
Security Clearance:
This position necessitates a government security clearance; applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Work Environment:
This role is performed onsite at a designated facility, with potential for flexible work schedules that accommodate various employee needs.
