Position Summary:
As a Lead Software Engineer for Satellite Ground Systems, you will engage in the planning and scheduling of software development while also designing, coding, and testing Java applications within a Linux-based, Agile, and DevOps framework. This role is critical in ensuring the functionality and reliability of our satellite ground systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and scheduling of software tasks while developing and maintaining sophisticated software applications for satellite ground systems.
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers, hardware developers, and fellow software engineers to produce robust and efficient software solutions.
- Design, implement, and validate Java applications and software components tailored for satellite ground operations.
- Engage in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices to enhance system architecture.
- Work with cross-functional teams to establish software requirements and specifications.
- Review and modify existing code to improve performance and functionality.
- Ensure software meets performance, reliability, and scalability standards.
- Participate in design reviews, code assessments, and system integration processes.
- Contribute to the achievement of project milestones under the guidance of supervisory staff.
- Adhere to established software development processes, including documentation and management of operational concepts and requirements.

Required Qualifications:
- A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in planning and scheduling satellite operations using ground systems.
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles, particularly in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Proficient in software development using Java across both Windows and Linux environments.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Knowledge of software architecture and algorithm development.
- Understanding of Cyber Security principles.
- Experience with automated software testing tools.
- Possession of an active U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within the GPS OCX enterprise.
- Involvement in external interface development and integration, algorithm design, and software product development.
- Familiarity with Cameo Enterprise for large-scale programs.
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite.
- Proven leadership in software development projects.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of inter-software messaging systems and frameworks.
