Job Overview

SUMMARY

Saxon Global is seeking a contract professional with expertise in application design, implementation, and integration within the Manufacturing and Supply Chain sectors, particularly in a retail distribution context.


This role involves working on various Supply Chain projects, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) deployment, Vocollect setup, and Mobile Device Management (MDM) implementation for distribution centers and manufacturing facilities, necessitating integration with other software applications and midrange solutions.


The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering precise, efficient, and dependable solutions for our distribution centers and manufacturing facilities, alongside associated enhancements throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Compliance with federal regulations will often be required.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Consultation

  • Establish strong collaborative relationships across various levels within the organization and IT community to ensure overall project success.
  • Assist in aligning expectations with both business and IT stakeholders regarding functionality, scope, and deliverables.
  • Provide application design advice and consultation, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of relevant technologies, tools, and existing designs.
  • Guide business partners on optimal use of the provided systems and assist in process development.
Design

  • Evaluate complex business requirements.
  • Create and develop technical specifications for designing or redesigning intricate computer platforms and applications.
  • Assess issues highlighted by Product Analysts to identify detailed technology requirements and capabilities.
  • Ensure designs align with the core architecture of the systems/applications.
  • Review existing software products and recommend modifications to enhance operational capacity and meet business needs.
Development

  • Serve as a technical expert for modeling, simulation, and analysis initiatives.
  • Oversee the preparation of test data, testing, and debugging of programs to verify program logic.
  • Configure and test handheld terminals, fork terminals, and VoCollect devices at the distribution center for the WMS modernization initiative.
  • Supervise systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production, collaborating with project teams.
  • Coordinate application and enhancement releases/user acceptance testing with project teams, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders.
Documentation

  • Create new documentation, departmental technical procedures, and user manuals.
  • Establish documentation standards, procedures, and approval hierarchies.
Leadership

  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis, proactively identifying opportunities for issue resolution.
  • Make informed decisions based on incomplete information under pressure while maintaining project focus.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in analysis/design of ERP systems and related business processes, including systems like WMS and EAM.
  • At least 3 years of experience in designing and implementing applications across various infrastructure solutions, including cloud-based environments.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing Supply Chain applications.
  • 3+ years of experience configuring VoCollect devices, printers, and handheld devices in distribution centers.
  • 6 years of programming experience, particularly in integrating applications across diverse technical platforms and Object-Oriented Development/Analysis/Design.
  • Strong background in database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with file transfer technologies (MIM, Kafka, MQ, EDI).
  • Proficient in technologies such as .Net, Java, and implementing applications in cloud environments.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle and methodologies, particularly Agile methodologies with JIRA.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms/tools and DevOps technologies for CI/CD is a plus.
  • Understanding of networking concepts is advantageous.
  • Strong experience in capacity planning, systems performance analysis, and optimization in distributed environments is highly desirable.
