Position Summary

NCRC is on the lookout for a skilled Managing Editor/Writer to enhance our communications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing engaging narratives and content designed to inform and mobilize our audience. Key duties include editing and writing articles, overseeing website content, and more. This position demands a refined approach to both storytelling and editorial processes.

Work Location

This role is based in Washington, DC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Generate articles highlighting NCRC's initiatives and member organizations.
  • Editorial Oversight: Edit research reports and articles for clarity and impact.
  • Copy Editing: Maintain a consistent style and tone across all written materials.
  • Multimedia Messaging: Craft messages suitable for various communication channels.
  • Publishing Coordination: Manage editorial workflows and calendars.
  • Collaborative Ideation: Develop creative concepts based on research and advocacy efforts.
  • External Engagement: Facilitate the placement of opinion pieces in relevant publications.
  • Sector Expertise: Effectively communicate complex topics.
  • Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to enhance content.
  • Event Support: Provide communication assistance for live events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in writing and editorial roles
  • Exceptional communication abilities
  • Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity with financial services, banking, or housing policy
  • Proficient in reporting, writing, editing, and design
  • Understanding of digital publishing tools
  • Experience in translating technical information into accessible language
