Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

In collaboration with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals, the Cancer Care RN is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating treatment strategies to meet nursing department objectives. This role is essential in achieving positive patient and departmental results.

Position Details: This is a full-time night shift role (7pm-7am) in our specialized 30-bed Medical Oncology unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for cancer patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall accountability for assigned patients.
  • Ensure efficient patient care flow, including screening, exam preparation, and general nursing support.
  • Manage and update patient records, including test results.
  • Administer medications as per physician directives.
  • Educate patients and families on medications and treatment plans.
  • Handle incoming calls and provide triage when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or a valid Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
