Position Overview:

The role involves providing essential physics services to the Radiation Oncology Department, ensuring the highest standards of treatment quality and safety for both patients and staff.

The physicist will engage in quality assurance programs for radiation equipment and software, assist in treatment planning, and oversee the maintenance and performance of radiation devices.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Establishing radiation beam characteristics for clinical applications.
  • Calibration and quality assurance of radiation therapy equipment.
  • Supporting complex patient simulations and setups.
  • Consulting on treatment planning with clinical and medical teams.
  • Conducting treatment planning (external beam, brachytherapy), including dose calculations and checks.
  • Fabricating treatment aids as necessary.
  • Managing brachytherapy source inventory and ensuring safety protocols.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Assisting in facility planning and radiation shielding evaluations.
  • Participating in radiation safety training and committee meetings.
  • Engaging in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Performing additional duties as required.


Qualifications:

Required:
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Medical Physics from a CAMPEP accredited program.
  • Successful completion of Part I of the American Board of Radiology certification examination in Therapeutic Medical Physics, with eligibility for Part II.
  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics must be obtained within two years of employment.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience as a Medical Physicist or Medical Physics Resident in a comprehensive radiation therapy setting.
  • Proficient computer skills with knowledge of networks and interfaces.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
