Job Summary and QualificationsIn collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members, the Intensive Care Registered Nurse is accountable for assessing, evaluating, planning, implementing, and coordinating treatment plans to achieve the objectives of the ICU department.
You will play a vital role within the interdependent team, responsible for ensuring positive patient and departmental outcomes.
What you will do in this role:
- Understand patients with critical illnesses and manage ventilation.
- Respond to Code Blue situations within the facility and initiate protocols, special procedures, and cardiac monitoring.
- Manage the efficient flow of patients, including screening, preparation for examinations, providing general nursing care, and coordinating testing and admissions.
- Educate patients and families regarding medications and treatment plans.
- Maintain and review patient records, including posting test results and examination findings.
- Administer medications according to physician orders.
- Check daily for necessary supplies in patient rooms.
- Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls (may include phone triage when necessary).
What qualifications you will need:
Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required. Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice and/or possess an active Compact/Multi-State RN license. A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider certification is required. A current AHA or American Red Cross Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Health Care Provider certification is preferred and must be obtained within six months of hire/transfer date. A minimum of one year of acute critical care RN experience is required.
