Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, the Oncology RN is accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating treatment plans while achieving the objectives of the nursing department. You will be a crucial member of the interdependent team, responsible for ensuring positive patient and departmental outcomes.

This is a full-time night shift position (7pm-7am) in our state-of-the-art 30-bed Medical Oncology unit, providing specialized care for patients diagnosed with cancer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining overall accountability for assigned patients.
  • Managing the efficient flow of patient care, including screening, exam preparation, general nursing care, and coordinating admissions, testing, and discharges.
  • Maintaining and reviewing patient records, including documenting tests and examination results.
  • Administering medications as per physician orders.
  • Educating patients and families on medications and treatment plans.
  • Responding to and referring incoming telephone inquiries, including phone triage when necessary.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice or an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
