About the Role

SirenOpt is a pioneering company in the field of advanced materials characterization, leveraging cold atmospheric plasma, machine learning, and predictive analytics to create unique material fingerprints in real-time. We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Electrical Engineer to help us deliver a sensing and software platform that can be scalably integrated inside high-volume thin film manufacturing lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Design and Validation: Contribute heavily to the electrical design and validation of the cold atmospheric plasma-based metrology sensor system, including Analog Circuits design, prototyping, and refinement, Power Distribution, High Voltage (up to 20KV) electronics, custom Transformers/Inductors design, Cables and Interconnect solutions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Interface with Regulatory agencies and Test Services to obtain Reports and Certifications according to US and EU requirements, ensuring Safety, EMI, REACH, and other applicable regulations. Act as internal expert in Electronics Regulatory Compliance.
  • Performance Characterization: Perform fundamental studies to characterize and understand the sensitivity of the sensor performance to various environmental factors.
  • Customer Interaction: Closely interact with our customers to improve the design based on their feedback, paying close attention to integration speed.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical design documentation (e.g., requirements, wiring diagrams, part schematics, and test reports). Interface with suppliers to ensure quick issues resolution and on-time delivery of various custom PCBA, cables, and other electronics parts.
Requirements
  • B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to lead autonomous electrical design projects of Power Distribution, High Voltage Electronics, Cables, Transformers, particularly those that involve designing a product that can be integrated into a larger system.
  • Significant experience with FCC, CE, and UL certification, familiarity with high-voltage devices safety regulations.
  • Experience taking designs from initial concept development to product launch.
  • Experience with hands-on development of prototypes.
  • Experience working with Outsourced Manufacturing partners - initiating and maintaining Manufacturing support.
  • Experience with maintaining awareness of customer needs and iterating on designs accordingly.
  • Experience with electrical design for automated manufacturing systems – experience with roll-to-roll and/or sheet-to-sheet processes is a huge plus.
  • Experience with performing sensitivity analysis and using the results of those analyses to inform future electrical designs.
  • Prior exposure to high-precision, high-throughput industrial designs for material handling, metrology, and/or process automation applications are a plus.
  • Design for reliability, manufacturing, and service (DFx) are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technical challenges and excited to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to rapidly create and iterate upon prototypes based on client and team feedback.
