About the Position

The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking highly motivated and innovative individuals to fill two Assistant Engineer positions in the Wastewater Department's Industrial Control Systems (ICS) section. As a key member of our team, you will support the Control Systems Management Section (CSMS) in providing control system and communication support to the main wastewater treatment plant, remote pumping plants, wet weather facilities, and recycled water facilities.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join a team of passionate and experienced engineers who are committed to protecting the San Francisco Bay and serving the public by providing essential services that they can always count on.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of control systems and communication networks for the Wastewater Department's facilities.
  • Collaborate with other discipline engineers and workgroups to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Develop and troubleshoot applications using distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), operator interface terminals (OIT), and network equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to lower-level engineers and technical staff.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of capital improvement projects, including the conversion of the existing secondary treatment process to a biological nutrient removal process.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited electrical, control systems, or closely related engineering curriculum.
  • Two years of professional electrical or control systems engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of up-to-date and/or legacy power, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Experience coordinating electrical/control engineering activities with others, including other discipline engineers, consultants, contractors, and representatives of other agencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
