Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer to join our team at PG&E Corporation. As a key member of our Transmission System Planning department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our electric transmission system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transmission System Studies: Lead and manage the development of comprehensive transmission planning studies, including long-term studies that develop strategy and plans to ensure safe, reliable, economic, and efficient operation of the electric transmission system.
  • Load Forecasting: Lead and manage the approval process for PG&E's transmission load forecast.
  • Generator Testing and Model Development: Lead generator testing and model development, including the development of HVDC or other non-standard equipment models for power flow and dynamic stability analysis.
  • Project Implementation: Provide technical expertise and lead in the implementation of complex and large-scale projects, including projects that require a Permit to Construct (PTC) permit.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Lead in the preparation of need portions of filings with regulatory agencies on transmission projects as necessary, and ensure compliance with FERC/NERC/WECC/CAISO requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US.
  • Experience: 8 years of experience in electrical engineering, planning, and/or operations.
  • Desired Qualifications: Current and active California PE license, Electrical Engineering; Masters degree in Electrical Engineering; knowledge and experience in power system theory and analysis; knowledge of PG&E's electric transmission system; knowledge of NERC and WECC reliability standards; experience in system operations, engineering, asset strategy, or system protection.
