SUMMARY
As a pivotal member of the HR team, you will collaborate with management and staff to deliver expert consultative guidance aimed at enhancing employee relations and facilitating recruitment initiatives. You will act as an advocate for employees while impartially investigating workplace concerns. A thorough understanding of state and federal employment regulations, along with ongoing legislative developments, is essential to effectively support the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide comprehensive employee relations assistance in areas such as organizational development, performance evaluation, coaching, and separations;
• Conduct thorough investigations of reported issues, offering recommendations and conclusions;
• Prepare necessary documentation and collaborate with legal advisors as needed;
• Oversee background check processes, ensuring timely reviews for pre-employment purposes, and serve as the primary liaison with third-party vendors;
• Offer HR support during the integration of acquisitions;
• Monitor and analyze employee relations data for reporting and trend analysis;
• Review employment offers for accuracy and ensure equitable compensation across the organization;
• Provide guidance and support to HR colleagues managing leaves of absence;
• Manage the secondary phase of workers' compensation, including return-to-work programs, report analysis, claims research, and coordination with internal representatives and external counsel;
• Review employment contracts and collaborate with internal or external legal counsel as necessary;
• Maintain a solid understanding of company benefits related to employment separations, retirements, and leaves of absence;
• Address inquiries from outsourced unemployment administrators and participate in appeals hearings;
• Track and report on employee relations metrics within the department;
• Collaborate with management on involuntary separations, including risk assessments and necessary approvals;
• Assess HR-related training needs and work with the internal HR team to develop and deliver training as required;
• Possess knowledge of the interactive process, ADA, etc., to guide, document, and advise managers;
• Mentor and work alongside internal HR teams on complex issues;
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
A minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience is required, with a preference for six (6) years of HR Generalist experience.
SKILLS
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities;
• Capability to effectively engage with senior management;
• Strong presentation skills;
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment;
• Proficient problem-solving and time management skills;
• Effective planning, organizational, and prioritization skills;
• Competence in mediating and resolving conflicts;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
• Willingness to travel 10-20% for training and business needs.
