Position: Sales Support Coordinator

Employment Type:

Full-time; Under the guidance of the MCC Associate Director of Sales, the MCC Director of Sales & Marketing, and the SVP of Destination Sales, the Sales Support Coordinator plays a vital role in promoting and selling the Minneapolis Convention Center and the City of Minneapolis as a premier venue for meetings and events, while contributing to the achievement of room night and revenue objectives that benefit the MCC, local hotels, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing, Associate Director of Sales, National Account Executives (NAEs), and/or Sales Account Executives (SAEs).
  • Generate reports and communications utilizing existing databases.
  • Prepare and distribute promotional materials for the sales team.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by sales personnel.
  • Support the MCC Sales team in attracting and retaining events at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
  • Establish effective working relationships with meeting planners, hotel sales teams, and Meet Minneapolis Partners.
  • Manage interactions with walk-in clients and inquiries from prospective clients.
  • Create accurate proposals and presentations for site inspections.
  • Assist in coordinating MCC site inspections.
  • Participate in sales and local industry meetings, documenting client communications.
  • Prepare precise contracts based on client requirements, making modifications as necessary.
  • Efficiently manage and assign accounts/events that are currently unassigned to a sales leader.
  • Coordinate all aspects of bid proposals using various Microsoft applications.
  • Support the achievement of Meet Minneapolis Performance Goals as outlined in its agreement with the City of Minneapolis.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years' experience in administrative or sales support roles.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for sales-related activities.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Proficient in using general office equipment, computers, and standard and specialized software packages, including Adobe Photoshop, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Sway.
  • Strong communication, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms and their applications.
  • Ability to assess the quality of business opportunities and identify those that align with the facility and community.
  • Capability to use computers for extended periods.
  • Valid private driver's license required.
  • Work environment is hybrid, with 60% in-office and 40% remote.
  • May require limited travel and work outside of standard business hours.

Compensation: $40,000 - $50,000 base salary plus a sales support incentive plan.
