We are currently seeking a Rail Transit Engineer in Training (EIT) to support our Southern California Transportation division in the planning and design of public transit initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess experience in rail transit projects within the region and demonstrate a foundational understanding of relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as project delivery methodologies from initial design through to construction support.

In the capacity of Rail EIT, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Project Managers and Engineers in the development of track and civil engineering plans, specifications, and cost assessments.
  • Managing civil and track engineering tasks, including drainage, structural, and utility considerations.
  • Creating design criteria, project documentation, meeting summaries, and project management tools in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Working autonomously on smaller projects or providing support to senior engineers on larger assignments.
  • Guiding clerical and technical staff as necessary.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic familiarity with InRoads/InRail, OpenRailDesigner, and/or Civil3D.
  • Experience utilizing InRoads/InRail, OpenRail Designer, and/or Civil3D.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in rail or transportation design.
  • Candidates without an EIT designation will be considered for the role of Rail Transit Designer with the expectation of obtaining EIT for career advancement.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Preference for local candidates.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with MS Office applications.
  • A strong interest in railroad design.
